A committee tasked with relocating the police firing range on Moccasin Bend wants to have a plan in place, including funding, by the time the National Park Service finalizes its management plan for Moccasin Bend in about a year.

Chattanooga police chief Fred Fletcher led the group's first meeting, which also featured representatives from the sheriff's office, the National Park Service, Friends of Moccasin Bend National Park, the City of Chattanooga and Hamilton County.

Police agreed to bring an outline of what they need in a firing range facility to the group's next meeting after Thanksgiving so the committee can begin exploring funding and location options.
