On a July night in 1985, police officers in Delaware found a man dead inside his home, his 1981 Silver Accord missing from the driveway.

A week later, authorities found the car abandoned in Philadelphia.

But then the trail went cold - until six days ago, when police in Dalton, Ga., arrested a 50-year-old homeless woman for the July 1, 1985, killing of Joseph Braun in Wilmington, Del.

Sandra Hartzag was arrested in Dalton on Nov. 4 and will be held in the Whitfield County Jail until she can be extradited to Delaware.

Investigators used Facebook to determine that Hartzag was living in a homeless camp near Dalton shortly after the New Castle Police Department reopened the cold case in October.

Dalton police tracked Hartzag down and brought her in for questioning.

Two detectives from New Castle, Del., flew to Dalton to conduct the interview, said Dalton police spokesman Bruce Frazier. He couldn't say exactly what happened during the interview, but at the end of the conversation, New Castle police got warrants for Hartzag's arrest.

Hartzag first became a suspect in the case in 1999 - 14 years after the murder.

That year, two men came forward and said they believed a relative had committed the crime with his girlfriend. The relative had died in 1997, but the two men named Hartzag as the girlfriend.

But the case went cold again after that, when detectives were unable to find Hartzag or tie her to the crime.

After interviewing Hartzag in Dalton, investigators obtained "detailed information to further connect Hartzag to the murder," according to the New Castle Police Department.

She is charged with murder during the commission of a felony, robbery in the first degree, conspiracy in the second degree and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Dalton police also charged Hartzag with being a fugitive from justice.
