JACKSON, Ga. - Authorities say a man has been arrested after his girlfriend's son was fatally shot in Georgia.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation tells WSB-TV that 37-year-old Christopher Ashkins turned himself in Friday. Ashkins is charged possession of a fire arm by a convicted felon.
Police say Jayden Jamar Clay was shot near the upper lip with a .45 caliber.
The child's mother, Choice Clay, told police she was in the kitchen tending to groceries while her twin sons played in the living room. Police say the mother heard a single gunshot.
The GBI is still investigating the manner of death.
