An animal rights group is offering a $5,000 reward for information about who abused a pit bull and abandoned her in a Chattanooga dumpster.

The reward from PETA comes on top of a $500 reward already being offered by the McKamey Animal Center, which is treating the dog shelter workers have named Desiree.

According to a news release from PETA, Desiree was found last week suffering from a broken leg, emaciation and a skin infection that left sores all over her body. She is currently undergoing treatment.

A second abandoned dog looking almost identical to Desiree was later found abandoned in the same area. Shelter workers have named him Desmond.
