Tennessee ranked as 33rd-smartest state

That's still better than most of the South

The not-so-good news is Tennessee only ranks as the 33rd-smartest state; the better news is that puts the Volunteer State among the smartest states in the South.

The Washington Post compiled the rankings after Donald Trump, upon hearing that Ben Carson is polling ahead of him in Iowa, asked, "How stupid are the people of Iowa?"

The Post concocted a four-part formula to measure a state's intelligence IQ scores estimated by a 2006 report, 2015 SAT scores, 2015 ACT scores and the percentage of college graduates in the state complied by the Census Bureau.
