Multiple vehicle collisions on I-24 snarled traffic on I-24 Friday afternoon, slowing travel along the automotive artery to a crawl.
At the I-75/I-24 split, a multiple vehicle crash at 1:53 p.m. blocked the left lanes of northbound traffic. That accident is estimated to be cleared by 3 p.m.
Southbound traffic is affected, but delays have been minimal.
On the west side of town, a crash at mile marker 178 reported at 2:25 p.m. affected eastbound traffic on I-24 with the outside shoulder blocked. Westbound traffic is also affected, but there are no delays. This accident is expected to be cleared by 5 p.m.
