Bradley County Fire and Rescue aiding South Carolina flood response

Three local fire departments have re-deployed to South Carolina to help with the state's extreme flooding, according to a release from Hamilton County Emergency Services.

Members of the Bradley County Fire Rescue, Chattanooga Fire Department and Cleveland Fire Department have either deployed or will deploy shortly.

Captain David Tallent, Chattanooga Fire Department Special Operations, left for South Carolina at 7 a.m. Thursday. He's being deployed as the Task Force Leader to replace the Task Force Leader who has been deployed since Oct. 3.

Two members from the Bradley County Fire Department and two from the Cleveland Fire Department will make up a new swift water boat team. They will each replace the Bradley County boat team that has been in South Carolina since Oct. 3. They will deploy at 7 a.m. Friday.

"Floodwaters are expected to crest Saturday and dams to breach and cause additional flooding to other areas," the release said. "This re-deployment will allow fresh crews to be in place and relieve existing crews that have worked tirelessly and made hundreds of rescues."
