Police detain suspect in fatal stabbing of Chattanooga woman

A 33-year-old woman was stabbed to death in her home in Alton Park early this morning, according to police.

Chattanooga police responded to a reported stabbing at the home at 4011 Hooker Road just before 2 a.m. today and found Angel Evans stabbed to death inside.

Police also found a man alive but wounded outside the home. Gerald Nelson, 24, was stabbed but his injuries are not life-threatening, according to police.

Nelson is the primary suspect in the stabbing, police said. He has not been charged in Evans' death.

Friends said Evans was outgoing, loved to dance and could have a hot temper. She had no children but doted on her dog, who she called her baby.
