CLINTON, Tenn. -- A former nurse has pleaded guilty to a charge stemming from the death of an inmate at the Anderson County jail.

The Daily Times reports Billy Joe Brockman entered the plea on Monday to filing a false report in connection to the death of Christopher Charles Sullivan, who died last July of an overdose.

Prosecutors accused Brockman, who was a nurse with Advanced Correctional Healthcare Inc., of reporting that he had measured and recorded Sullivan's vital signs when he did not.

Under terms of the deal, Brockman was given a three-year suspended sentence, a $500 fine and community service. He also asked for judicial diversion. If the request is approved, his charge would be expunged from his record after probation.
