Couple arrested in Polk County double shooting

A man and wife are facing murder and facilitation charges in a weekend shooting that left a Polk County woman dead and a man wounded.

Eddie Dale Rice was arrested Monday in Sweetwater, Tenn., on charges of first-degree murder in the death of Anne Marie Gober and attempted first-degree murder of Chuck Adams, according to a Polk County Sheriff's Office news release.

The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday. Investigators said Adams heard a noise and went outside, where he was shot by someone in a vehicle. Gober followed him outside and also was shot. Both were flown to Erlanger in Chattanooga, where she died.

Investigators developed information leading to Eddie Dale Rice as a suspect. He was arrested with the help of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and U.S. Marshals Service and is presently in the Polk County Jail. His wife, Theresa Rice, was arrested on the same day and also is in the Polk County Jail.
