An 18-year-old accused of committing a drive-by shooting when he was a juvenile was transferred from juvenile lockup to the Hamilton County Jail today, his 18th birthday.

Kishon King is charged with attempted first-degree murder, 11 counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a prohibited weapon. He is accused of shooting into a house.

Although he was booked into the Hamilton County Jail, his case is still in juvenile court because the crime occurred when King was a juvenile, said Juvenile Court Administrator Sam Mairs.

"The only reason he is in the downtown jail is because he is 18 and we can't keep him here," Mairs said. "The only thing that changes is where he lays his head tonight."

A juvenile court judge will decide whether to transfer King to Hamilton County Sessions Court at a later time.
