Driver who hit, dragged pedestrian for four blocks now faces criminal charges

A 21-year-old man who hit a pedestrian downtown and dragged the man for about four blocks in April was today charged with driving under the influence, vehicular assault and several other criminal counts.

Police say Peter Macrellis hit Levi Youster, 22, at 400 Cherry Street on April 17, then dragged Youster behind his car around 2 a.m.

Youster's injuries were serious but not life-threatening, according to police.

Macrellis is also charged with aggravated reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, financial responsibility and driving the wrong-way on a one-way street.

He will be booked into the Hamilton County Jail today. His bond has not yet been set.
