A 21-year-old man who hit a pedestrian downtown and dragged the man for about four blocks in April was charged Thursday with driving under the influence, vehicular assault and several other criminal counts.

Police say Peter Macrellis hit Levi Youster, 22, at 400 Cherry St. around 2 a.m. on April 17, then dragged Youster behind his car.

Youster's injuries were serious but not life-threatening, according to police.

Macrellis is also charged with aggravated reckless driving, driving on a suspended license, financial responsibility and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

He was booked into the Hamilton County Jail on Thursday. His bond has not yet been set.
