Grill starts house fire on Signal Mountain

No injuries were reported after a grill started a house fire on Signal Mountain on Friday night.

A 911 call came into the Signal Mountain Fire Department at 7:23 p.m. Friday night about a fire at 306 Dawn St. When firefighters arrived on scene, they reported seeing heavy fire coming from the back porch and eaves of the house.

The house renter, Brian, said he was cooking on his grill when he went inside. When he came back out a few minutes later, flames were shooting out of the grill and onto the side of the house.

Walden's Ridge Emergency Services, Red Bank Fire Department and Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue also responded to the scene.

The damage from the fire is undetermined and the cause is labeled as accidental.
