College isn't cheap. In fact, many students walk away from college after four or five years loaded down with debt and with few job prospects. But not all schools are created equal, and some Georgia schools boast average starting salary rates far higher than others.

According to a study by SmartAsset, based on data from the 2013 National Center for Educational Statistics, the 2014 Payscale and 2013 College inSight, Georgia Tech tops the list of Georgia colleges when it comes to post-graduation earnings. Here's the full list:

1. Georgia Institute of Technology - $60,700

2. Emory University - $51,100

3. Southern Polytechnic State University - $49,500

4. Morehouse College - $48,100

5. Mercer University - $45,600

6. University of Georgia - $43,800

7. Armstrong Atlantic State University - $43,200

8. DeVry University - $42,500

9. Georgia State University - $42,400

10. Georgia Southern University - $41,600

Georgia's average starting salary is $41,262. The cheapest tuition in the state is Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, the the lowest living costs can be had at Central Georgia Technical College in Macon, Georgia.

The overall best value is Georgia Tech, which boasts average starting earnings of $60,700 against tuition of $10,098 and living costs of $14,360.
