Fort Payne man dies in single-car highway crash over weekend

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) - Alabama authorities say a 23-year-old man is dead after a single-car crash on a DeKalb County highway.

Al.com reports (bit.ly/1TvLwoH) Cody LeDale Wells of Fort Payne died after the Ford Focus he was driving left the roadway, overturned and struck a tree early Sunday.

Trooper Curtis Summerville of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the crash happened on DeKalb County85, about one mile north of Fort Payne. He says Wells was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Alabama state troopers.
