A 20-year-old Chattanooga man was indicted today in the August drive-by shooting of a rival gang member.

Christopher Walton, in jail on a $1,000,000 bond, faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during a violent felony, aggravated assault, reckless aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.

Police said Jordan Clark, a Rollin 40s Crip, was shot and killed in a drive-by attack on Aug. 25 that injured one other.

Tavoris McKeldin said he and Clark were walking on Willow Street around 8 p.m. when a white vehicle approached Citico Avenue and opened fire on them. McKeldin sprinted toward Robbins Street, where he scaled a chain-link fence to safety. Clark, on the other hand, was struck multiple times and dropped on Willow Street.

The carnage also reached Vernandus Adair, 37, who was inside his home when a bullet ripped through the wall, striking him in the leg. Adair had to be treated on scene by emergency medical services.

The next day, police arrested Walton, a Rollin 20s Blood. In September, his case was bound over to the grand jury, which returned a six-count indictment last week. According to the true bill, Walton faces charges for trying to hurt all three men.

He will make his first appearance for the charges April 29 in Judge Don Poole's Criminal Court.
