Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher says he's taken specific steps to look for specific people in specific places to stem the weekend's tide of violence.

Police Chief Fred Fletcher gave a briefing to the City Council concerning the recent spate of gang-related shootings today.

The police department is ramping up efforts to suppress the recent outbreak of shootings that have left one dead and two pregnant women injured over the last four days., said Fletcher.

"Talking to gang members, we have been told they have more shooters than we have cops," said Fletcher.

However, the commitment, resources and thinking of the department are undeterred, said Fletcher.

Councilman Yusuf Hakeem thanked the police department for "standing in the gap" between the community and the gangs.

As Fletcher spoke, another shooting was reported off of Germantown Road.
