Police responded to the scene of a reported shooting on Biltmore Drive.

Just as the chief of police addressed a wave of ongoing gang violence at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon, police responded to yet another report of a person shot, this time off of Germantown Road.

When they arrived at the 700 block of Biltomore Drive, they found Jackie M. Sawyer, 20, suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Officers marked shell casings in the road as onlookers gathered around. Police say 3-4 black males fired multiple rounds from a burgundy colored compact sedan, striking the victim in the yard.

The victim was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services.

Chattanooga Violent Crimes Bureau Investigators are following all actionable leads.

Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher said normal, robust efforts to stop this gang violence have been ineffective because the shooters are determined to cause harm.

Two pregnant women have been shot during the recent spate of violence. A 17-year-old was shot and killed on Monday, making him the city's 11th homicide this year.

Fletcher said this may have been the most violent four days he's seen in Chattanooga.

This is the ninth shooting incident since Saturday. Police believe the violence may be traced back to the April 10 death of a gang member at the Sky Zoo nightclub.

Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke applauded the cooperation between agencies that are attempting to stop the violence. As of Monday, there had been 35 shootings so far in 2016. Police have made no arrests in any of the city's 2016 homicides.
