A 25-year-old man and two teenagers were shot early Wednesday morning in what police believe were related incidents.
Jamario Gibson, 25, told police he was standing in the 2400 block of Windsor Street around 1:30 a.m. when someone drove by and opened fire from inside a vehicle. He was hit in the leg.
About an hour later and a half-mile away on Sharp Street, police responding to a report of a person with a gunshot wound discovered two wounded teenagers.
The victims, both in their late teens, have not been publicly identified by police. Investigators said their injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
It's possible all three people were wounded in the same drive-by shooting, police said.
Investigators do not believe Wednesday's shooting victims were connected to Sunday's slaying of 24-year-old Marquise Jackson, who was shot multiple times in Alton Park around 1:30 a.m.
Police warned Sunday that Jackson's death could spark retaliatory violence.
Friends said Jackson, a father of two, was a fun man who never hesitated to crack a joke but was also dedicated to his family and his job.
"In a serious situation when you're upset, he was able to give great advice and then make a joke to put a smile on your face," said friend Amber McCarroll.
Shamonica McCurty, who knew Jackson through his longtime girlfriend, said he worked at Amazon for several years and was careful not to miss work.
"He was always smiling, never sad or mad, all he wanted was for his family to be together," she said.
Police have not released a motive or suspect in Jackson's death. He was the 22nd person to be killed in Chattanooga so far in 2016.
