Morning shootings leave one man dead, one injured; fatality identified

After an earlier shooting wounded a man, Jermichael Bowling was found shot to death on East 41st Street

Chattanooga police have identified Jermichael Bowling as the 35-year-old man found dead of gunshot wounds in the 2600 block of E. 41st Street this morning.

Police discovered the victim while responding to a 911 call placed at 5:28 a.m.

No credible suspect information has been provided to police, spokesman Rob Simmons said in a news release.

Less than four hours earlier, police found a 21-year-old man shot in the leg in the 5500 block of Brainerd Road. Authorities have not released the name of the victim, whose injuries were not life-threatening.

Police are looking for a gray Buick in connection with the shooting.

At this time, investigators have not announced whether today's shootings are related to the rash of gang-related shootings last week.
