Folks visiting the Dunlap City Training Center starting Thursday and continuing through Saturday could leave with volumes of knowledge or a winning bid on services and other goodies up for grabs at the Sequatchie County Friends of the Library book sale and silent auction.

The center is located between the library and city hall on Rankin Avenue.

This year's sale "will be a special treat for all book lovers in the area," said longtime library supporter, organizer and friends member Nina Hunt. "The August sale features a silent auction with lots of desirable items, too."

Most hardback books are $1, paperbacks are 50 cents, most children's and youth books are 25 cents and even best sellers are a steal, priced mostly $2 to $3 each

The silent auction this year offers up Tennessee Aquarium passes, Creative Discovery Museum passes, Dollywood tickets and local treats like a gift certificate to the Dunlap Inn and an oil change and lube job from Dunlap Fast Lube, according to Hunt. There are plenty of other items suited to adults and children.

The sale starts Thursday at 8 a.m. CDT and continues till 5 p.m. Friday's hours are the same and on Saturday the doors open at 8 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.

Friends of the Library memberships are also available, $5 for an individual membership and $10 for a family membership.

"The book sales provide the funds to support many library functions and activities and offer local residents the opportunity to purchase a lot of recreation or education for very little money," Hunt said.
