Staffers at Erlanger hospital are sending a truck loaded with medical supplies Friday to two hospitals in flooded areas of Louisiana.
Nurses at two Louisiana hospitals, Ochsner Medical Center and Baton Rouge General Medical Center, posted a call for help on social media, saying their facilities were running low on critical supplies.
A group of nurses, employees and suppliers at Erlanger began collecting material and packed an 18-wheel tractor trailer truck. The supplies include clothing, scrubs, and hand sanitizer.
Some 44 employees forced from their homes by flooding are currently living at the Baton Rouge medical center, according to Erlanger spokeswoman Susan Sawyer. Some four dozen patients at Ochsner had to be evacuated from the facility because of rising floodwaters.
The truck will leave Chattanooga for Louisiana on Friday afternoon.
