A man has been arrested in connection to an October shooting on Glass Street that injured one man and endangered a woman and her 2-year-old child, who were in the same car.

Prandell Haynes, 26, was charged on Monday with attempted first degree murder for allegedly shooting multiple times at the car as the group tried to escape, according to court documents.

The arrest affidavit says the shooting took place on Oct. 13 just before 2 p.m. in the parking lot of a mini-market on the 2400 block of Glass Street.

Darniqua Shibley said she and Thomas Williams Jr. were in a car with their 2-year-old daughter at the market when a light blue Toyota Camry pulled up.

She said Haynes and another man, Marquel Morris, were in the Camry and she recognized them from previous encounters. She said Haynes had previously stolen her gun and was angry with her for pressing charges over the alleged theft.

Upon recognizing the men, she said she tried to leave but as she was pulling out of the parking lot, Haynes and Morris ran behind the store and drew pistols and began firing at their car.

Shibley said she heard at least 20 gunshots, but Williams was the only one who was hit, suffering a gunshot wound to the face. Later she positively identified both men out of a photo lineup.

Haynes is a convicted felon, according to court documents, and has previously been arrested for aggravated assault and arson, among other things. His bond for the current charges has been set at $100,000.

Morris has not been arrested in connection to the shooting, but there are warrants out for his arrest. He has previously been arrested for charges ranging from domestic assault to aggravated robbery.
