Six arrested in multiple burglaries and thefts in Cherokee County, Ala.

Cherokee County, Ala., authorities arrested six people in connection with multiple burglaries and thefts that happened over the last two weeks.

Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a statement the six people arrested are being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center and are awaiting bonds.

Matthew Ray Long, 34, and Patricia Kay Long, 33, both of Leesburg were charged with third-degree burglary, first-degree theft of lost property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia in connection to a burglary in the Leesburg area.

Three Gaylesville residents and one Cedar Bluff man was arrested in connection with burglaries which occurred in that area.

Anthony Matthew Gilreath, 26, was charged with three counts of burglary, second-degree theft of property, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and attempting to elude. Steven Paul Warren, 19, was charged with breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, second-degree theft of property and fourth-degree receiving stolen property. Justin Caleb Sheppard, 22, was charged with fourth-degree receiving stolen property. Robert Lester Dodd, 46 of Cedar Bluff, was charged with third-degree receiving stolen property.

According to Chief Investigator Josh Summerford, investigators were also able to recover several items of the stolen property.
