UPDATE at 9:30 p.m.:

One person was shot in a drive-by shooting on North Germantown Road Friday afternoon.

The person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and is expected to live, according to a release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

The suspect's vehicle was a Grey GMC SUV, according to the release.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police, fire and emergency responders headed to North Germantown Road in response to a shots fired call that went out at 1:44 p.m., according to Hamilton County dispatch.

Police could not immediately confirm that a person was shot or immediately locate a crime scene.

Shell casings were found and witnesses said they heard five shots, according to a reporter.

The location listed by dispatch is near the Shepherd Hills Apartments, near the intersection of Menlo Street and North Germantown Road.
