A 15-year-old boy and 24-year-old man tried to carjack a driver at gunpoint in a parking lot near Erlanger Hospital around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, according to police.

The driver, Chris Schlabach, told police that the pair came up to him as he left his vehicle in a parking lot at 900 E. 4th Street. He said the 15-year-old pointed a gun at him and demanded his car keys.

Schlabach refused, pushed the gun away and ran, he told police. He said the 15-year-old fired one shot at him as he fled, but missed.

Shortly afterwards, police found the two suspects in the 300 block of O'Neal Street, according to an affidavit. They ran from police and hid behind a house.

Police found the 24-year-old, identified as Nikolas Milton, near a .45 caliber pistol which had been thrown on the ground, according to his affidavit.

The 15-year-old was also arrested but will not be identified because he is a juvenile. The teenager later told police that Milton handed him the gun and told him to conduct the robbery.

Milton was charged with attempted carjacking, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and resisting arrest.

The teenager's charges were not immediately available.

Schlabach declined to comment to the Times Free Press.
