The alleged culprit of a string of Brainerd home burglaries, Yummuse D. Hendrix, 39, was arrested after someone saw him breaking into a home this afternoon and called police.

According to a press release from the Chattanooga Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Midland Pike at 2 p.m. after a concerned neighbor called.

The defendant allegedly ran from the scene and attempted to hid in some bushes, but he was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Officers said they found several items on Hendrix linking him to the burglary and, after an investigation, showed he was connected to multiple recent burglaries in the area.

He was booked into the Hamilton County jail and charged with aggravated burglary, theft, possession of burglary tools, and evading arrest.
