KNOXVILLE - Former Pilot Flying J President Mark Hazelwood was arraigned Tuesday morning on charges including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and mail fraud as well as witness tampering.

Hazelwood was arraigned in U.S. District Court on a 60-page speaking indictment, which means the documents lay out with specificity the allegations against the former Pilot executive.

The indictment was just unsealed and was not available for public view.

The charges stem from allegations that Pilot executives conspired to defraud small trucking companies of promised diesel fuel rebates, beginning as early as 2005 through a raid of Pilot headquarters in 2013.
