Local elementary school reading room named for 2016 presidential candidate

A Chattanooga elementary school has named its new reading room after a 2016 presidential candidate.

Lookout Valley Elementary School will open the Ben Carson Reading Room on Monday, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Department of Education.

It will be the third Ben Carson Reading Room in the state, the release said.

The reading room was created in partnership with the Carson Scholars Fund with money from the Deaver Phoenix Foundation, according to the release.

School principal Alisan Taylor said in the release that the school is honored to be a part of the project.

The grand opening ceremony is at 10 a.m. Monday.
