The National Weather Service says there is a possibility of light snow accumulations across east Tennessee, Southwest Virginia and Southwest North Carolina late Saturday night and into Sunday morning, according to a statement released Friday afternoon.

A storm system may bring light snowfall late Saturday night to the Chattanooga region, with snowfall projected to begin after midnight, and generally east of I-75.

Snow accumulation of up to two inches is possible across the higher elevations of Tennessee's eastern mountains.

If it does snow, the National Weather Service projects that snowfall will end by noon on Sunday, and that safety concerns will be areas of ice and snow covering roadways, especially across bridges and overpasses.
