Woman arrested, charged with murder in Chickamauga Battlefield death

A woman has been arrested in the death of a man whose dead body was found inside Chickamauga Battlefield, part of Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, on Dec. 12, according to a GBI news release.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Fort Oglethorpe Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation charged and arrested Jennifer DeMott, 25, of New York, for the murder of Duane Hollenbeck, 59, on Jan. 12.

New York State Police had been investigating Hollenbeck's disappearance from his Dryden, N.Y., home, prior to his body being found in the Georgia national park.

Hollenbeck's death was a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

DeMott was also charged with exploitation of an elder or disabled person as part of murder investigation. DeMott remains in custody in the Catoosa County Jail.
