A former Tullahoma, Tenn., city employee who retired last year was killed early Thursday in a crash with a vehicle Coffee County Sheriff's deputies were pursuing after it fled from them.

"The accident happened during a chase initiated in the vicinity of Manchester by the Coffee County Sheriff's Department," Tullahoma spokesman Winston Brooks said in a statement. "The suspects crashed into the driver's side of a pickup truck driven by Joe Moon, 66, an employee of the city of Tullahoma."

Tullahoma police investigated the accident scene at the intersection of South Jackson Street at Carroll Street, according to officials.

"(T)here was a two-car accident with the driver of a pickup deceased at the scene," Brooks said.

The names of the suspects in the vehicle that crashed into Moon's truck have not been released.

Brooks said the suspects are an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man.

"Moon had been a faithful employee of the City of Tullahoma for 40 years," Brooks said.
