A corrections officer in Cedartown, Ga., has been arrested in connection with the use of a Taser on a restrained jail inmate earlier this month.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Harry Dallas Battle, 61, is charged with violation of oath of office and making a false statement, both felonies, and battery, a misdemeanor.

A GBI news release said Battle resigned from the Polk County Sheriff's Office on July 8, one day after the alleged incident.

The release said the Polk County Sheriff's Office asked the GBI to investigate.
Battle turned himself in for booking at the Polk County Jail and was released on bond. Once the investigation is completed, it will be turned over to the DA's office for prosecution, the release stated.
