MOBILE, Ala. - A federal jury in Mobile has convicted a middle school teacher on child pornography charges.

Eighth-grade science teacher Jeremiah Hunter was convicted after just 10 minutes of deliberations on Friday. A judge scheduled his sentencing for Oct. 20, when the man could be sent to prison for nearly 20 years.

Prosecutors argued the one-time teacher of the year at Hankins Middle School sexted with multiple boys. Investigators found the images on Hunter's cellphone after serving a search warrant.

Hunter claimed he had the images because he was investigating suspicions that students were sending nude photos to each other. He also compared nude photos of teenage boys to art, citing Michelangelo as a comparison.
