A 50-year-old man was arrested Saturday after a woman said he tried to rape her, and in a separate incident on Sunday, a 43-year-old Hixson woman was charged with abuse after she withheld pain pills from two disabled adults, court records show.

George Davis was arrested after a woman told police he hit, slapped and choked her. The woman, who will not be identified by the Times Free Press, said she recently met Davis and the two were drinking together at a homeless camp off Main Street when he became violent Saturday.

She said Davis slapped her in the face and told her he was going to rape her, then pulled her into his tent and assaulted her. She was able to resist, and when Davis heard someone coming, he pulled the woman out of the tent and walked her to the road, where he choked her, she told police.

Davis said he would kill her if she called the police, then let her go, she told police.

Not long after that encounter, Davis found the woman again. She was sitting in a car with a friend on McCallie Avenue, according to Davis' affidavit. The woman said Davis pulled her from the car and began to hit her.

The friend tried to defend the woman, but Davis hit him in the face, according to police. Another man witnessed the assault and helped fight off Davis, who fled. Davis was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault, as well as attempted rape.

He is being held on a $50,000 bond.

In Hixson, a doctor alerted deputies to the potential abuse of two disabled adults after an adult protective services worker realized the adults weren't receiving their medications.

The patients' mother, Marcia Grey, was responsible for filling and distributing their prescriptions, but she refused to meet with the doctor to do a pill count when he confronted her about the allegations.

Deputies visited the home Sunday and discovered that she was not giving the two adults the appropriate dose of pain pills.

She was arrested and charged with willful abuse and neglect of an impaired adult, as well as fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.
