At 1:30 a.m. the Chattanooga Fire Department received an alarm and responded to the 800 block of N. Orchard Knob Avenue where they found flames coming from a bedroom window.

Firefighters searched the house for any any occupants, but didn't find anyone.

The five residents of the home told Battalion Chief Chris Warren that a smoke alarm woke them up and when they got up and discovered the fire, they all made it out of the house safely.

One of the occupants appearing to be suffering from smoke inhalation was found later and transported to Erlanger, where the victim was treated and released.

The firefighters were able to contain the fire to the room where it started, but there was smoke and water damage to adjacent rooms. The damage was estimated at $25,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
