UPDATE: Traffic is now moving swiftly on I-24 eastbound.
An apparent trailer fire blocked I-24 eastbound just west of Jasper.
The accident is being worked by highway patrol and local authorities. A standstill began before 5:45 a.m. on a straight stretch of divided highway as dawn began to light the area.
No eastbound traffic moving for about an hour at this time. Westbound traffic appears unaffected.
