The Chattanooga Police Department responded to reports of shots fired and a person shot in the Cambridge Drive area early this morning.
When they arrived on scene police located one female victim, Ashley McKenzie, 20, suffering from a life threatening gunshot wound to the head.
McKenzie was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
