A 21-year-old Chattanooga man was arrested Sunday in connection with a shooting in the Oak Hill neighborhood in early May, court records show.

Davonte Ammons is accused of opening fire while standing in the front door of a home on Grand Avenue, according to an affidavit. One bullet struck the couch where a man was sitting. Two women and Ammons' 2-year-old son also were in the home during the shooting.

The witnesses told police Ammons fired at least two times. They said he vowed to "shoot this whole house up." The affidavit does not give a motive for the attack.

No one was injured during the shooting. Police recovered one live round, one spent shell casing and a bullet fragment at the scene, according to an affidavit.

Ammons was charged with attempted first-degree murder and three counts of reckless endangerment, as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Although the incident happened May 2, Ammons fled and was not arrested until Sunday.

He is being held in the Hamilton County Jail on a $140,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County General Sessions Court Friday.

Ammons has a criminal history in Hamilton County dating back to 2012, with charges ranging from aggravated criminal trespassing to evading arrest to unlawful possession of a weapon.
