A blaze damaged a large, two-story home in Brainerd today, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department news release.

The fire department received a fire alarm at 3:11 p.m. and responded to 125 Shawnee Trail with four fire companies.

The first firefighters to arrive from Station 13 saw smoke and flames coming from the roof of the house and used handheld hose lines to make an interior attack and also used an aerial to help get the fire under control. No injuries were reported.

Battalion Chief Nate Middlebrooks said no one appeared to be in the house when firefighters arrived, and it looked like the structure was in the process of being renovated. An estimate on the dollar loss was not provided. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Chattanooga police, Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue also provided assistance.
