Following last year's closing of Crutchfield Pianos on Lee Highway, the Ooltewah area now has a new place to purchase music supplies and take lessons.

Located at 6719 Mountain View Road, Suite 117, Bill Jones Music offers everything from violins and cellos to pianos and sheet music. And soon, the business will also offer beginner and intermediate music lessons for both kids and adults, said manager Larry Otto.

The former manager of Crutchfield Pianos until its closing, Otto said he is thrilled about the visibility and foot traffic Bill Jones Music has experienced since opening earlier this winter.

"But we're still growing into what we want to be," he said.

The space doesn't yet have its private studios for lessons set up, although that is expected to be done soon, Otto explained. But already, he added, the shop has two students signed up for lessons in an available office.

"We're anticipating starting lessons [on a larger scale] before the end of summer," said Otto.

Two teachers are currently available, including Heather Anderson, a graduate of Eastman School of Music and substitute cellist for the Chattanooga Symphony.

Lessons are $95 a month for four lessons within the month. To find out more about the shop or its lessons, contact Bill Jones Music at 499-8197.
