TBI identifies woman found dead Sunday in Grundy County

UPDATED: Officials with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the Grundy County Sheriff's Office are investigating the discovery of a body Sunday on Ross Creek Road.

TBI officials say the body has been identified as that of 26-year-old Samantha Kathleen Chandler.

An autopsy is being performed today at the Medical Examiner's Office in Nashville, officials said.

Chandler's body was discovered by people riding ATVs near the location "where Ross Creek Road turns into Burketts Chapel Road," TBI spokeswoman Susan Niland said.

Officials have not said whether foul play is expected or how Chandler is believed to have died.

Ross Creek Road passes through a remote, heavily wooded area south of Gruetli-Laager, Tenn., where there are few dwellings or other buildings.

There was no further information immediately available.
