Tomorrow may be Cinco de Mayo, but forecasters say there is a chance for snow in parts of the region as temperatures drop into the 40s tonight.

Paul Barys, WRCB-TV Chief Meteorologist said some areas to the north and east in the Blue Ridge Mountains may see a light snow shower which isn't unheard of for early May.

Temperatures everywhere will drop tonight after a line of showers moves through between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., plummeting to lows in the 20s and 30s for some higher elevations.

Chattanooga and areas off the mountain may also see some precipitation better fit for winter tonight, even if it's not snow.

Barys said, "It's not impossible. We might see pea-sized or smaller hail. Some people may see a little sleet. There could be a little bit of rumbling tonight."

Up until the weekend, daytime highs will also be relatively lower than they have been over the past several days, only reaching the mid-60s on Thursday and climbing slightly higher into the low-70s on Friday.
