The Hawkins County man who abducted and disappeared with his 9-year-old niece last week purchased items such as girl's underwear, nail polish and lipstick before he picked her up from school, authorities said Tuesday.

Tennessee Bureau of Investigation spokesman Josh DeVine shared the details at a news conference as authorities entered the sixth day of searching for Carlie Marie Trent, who was signed out of school in Rogersville, Tenn., on Wednesday by her non-custodial uncle, 57-year-old Gary Simpson.

Authorities previously shared security camera footage of Simpson taken at a Rogersville area Walmart shortly before he picked up Carlie from her school, claiming her father had been in an accident.
