Hamilton County Criminal Court Clerk Vince Dean has asked $400,000 from the county general fund in the 2016 - 2017 budget.

Dean presented the request during county budget hearings today.

"We are turning things around," said Dean of the need for county dollars to offset revenue shortfalls. Criminal court clerk office salaries are funded by the state from a portion of the fees the office collects.

Commissioner Tim Boyd, who was highly critical of a $300,000 request made by Dean for the current budget, was not present at the meeting.

Boyd described the previous request due to a "mismanagement of funds."
