The Hamilton County school board unanimously voted Thursday evening to pay $913,600 to repair stadiums at local schools.

East Ridge, Tyner, Howard, Hixson, CSAS, Ooltewah & Lookout Valley will all receive stadium repairs.

The bleachers at Tyner and Howard were deemed unsafe by an inspector who said they need to be razed.

East Ridge's stadium was condemned last August and torn down.

The bulk of the money will be allocated to Tyner, Howard and East Ridge which need either major upgrades or to be rebuilt entirely.

The good news is that the stadiums at Ooltewah, Lookout Valley and Hixson high schools and Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences need minor repairs, but are basically sound, Justin Witt, director of maintenance and operations for the school system, told the school board in December.
