An intersection in Brainerd is changing at the request of some people in the neighborhood.
According to a release from the Chattanooga Department of Transportation, the city is installing a diagonal diverter at the intersection of South Sweetbriar Avenue and Mayfair Avenue. A diagonal diverter is like a block in the middle of the intersection, stopping people from driving through.
So while drivers used to be able to cruise by the intersection, which was a four-way stop, they will now face two 90-degree turns. The intersection is about one block East of Brainerd Baptist Church.
This change is part of the city's Neighborhood Traffic Management Program.
