Authorities have arrested a suspect accused of stabbing a man at a home on County Road 51 in Fort Payne, Ala., according to a DeKalb County Sheriff's Office news release.
Horace Whittaker, 40, of Gadsden, was arrested Thursday on attempted murder charges. Whittaker is the estranged husband of the female owner of the residence, and is accused of assaulting Matthew Lucas, 33, of Gadsden, with a knife on May 16. Lucas was flown to Erlanger hospital where his wounds were treated.
Whittaker was later found in Collinsville in his vehicle with gunshot wounds and was flown to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Jimmy Harris said "that after several interviews with witnesses and victim the investigation gave the investigators enough evidence to obtain a warrant for the arrest of Whittaker on attempted murder charges."
