Chattanooga police officers Terry Barnes, left, and Shane Stiles stand outside a home on the corner of 43rd Street and 15th Avenue after a domestic shooting at the home Friday, May 27, 2016, in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Police responded to a call of a person shot in the 4100 block of 13th Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. Friday afternoon in the East Lake area of Chattanooga and there found a man suffering from a single, non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

A woman who asked to remain nameless said the victim, later identified by police as Elpatro Johnikin, 37, came to her home after being shot in the leg and was transported to the hospital.

She said it was a domestic issue over custody and not gang-related.

Several blocks away at the corner of 15th Avenue and 43rd Street police had taped off a 2-story residence and detained a suspect, Christie Harris, 33, who was charged with aggravated assault.
